Acceptance of Terms

By using Sight Reading Racer, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Description of Service

Sight Reading Racer is a free, browser-based music sight-reading practice tool. It provides over 1,780 exercises drawn from published method books, supporting keyboard input, on-screen buttons, voice recognition, and mobile touch input. An account is not required to play, but classroom features and progress tracking require one.

Intellectual Property

The musical exercises included in Sight Reading Racer are licensed content from Farris Music, developed in collaboration with Drew Hammer. All other content, including the application code, design, and user interface, is owned by Kwanwoo Lee. All rights reserved.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any content on this site without prior written permission.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse this service. Prohibited activities include:

  • Scraping or bulk downloading exercises or content.
  • Attempting to interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
  • Using automated tools to access the service in a manner that imposes unreasonable load.
  • Reverse-engineering proprietary content or bypassing access controls.

Privacy

We collect account information (name, role) and game performance data for enrolled users. Anonymous usage analytics are collected via self-hosted Umami. See the Privacy page for full details on data collection, voice input, classroom data, and data retention.

Disclaimer

Sight Reading Racer is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make no guarantees regarding availability, uptime, accuracy of exercise content, or fitness for any particular purpose. Use of the service is at your own risk.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kwanwoo Lee is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use Sight Reading Racer.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of Sight Reading Racer after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

User Accounts

Sight Reading Racer offers optional accounts. Teachers create accounts with a name, email, and passcode. Students join classrooms with a class code and display name. You may play without an account, but game history and classroom features require one.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. We are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from shared or compromised credentials.

Multiplayer and Interactive Features

Classroom features allow teachers to create classes, enroll students, and view performance data. Future releases may include multiplayer racing and leaderboards. Participation in competitive or interactive features will be subject to fair play policies and additional guidelines posted at that time.

Paid Services

All features are currently free. If premium features or subscriptions are introduced in the future, pricing, billing terms, and refund policies will be clearly communicated before any charges apply.

User-Generated Content

Future features may allow teachers to upload custom exercises or share configurations. Users will retain ownership of their uploaded content but grant Sight Reading Racer a license to host and display it within the platform.

Third-Party Integrations

Future releases may integrate with learning management systems (Canvas, Google Classroom) and other third-party services. Use of integrated services will be subject to their respective terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States.
